A Homeless Christmas

Certain events will get you. There are certain things that will tug at your heartstrings and Christmas morning was one of them. My kids were spending Christmas morning with their mom and I was preparing a feast later that day. In town, we have a homeless shelter and I have helped out in the past with bag lunch delivery, donations, etc. But on Christmas morning, I decided to go and help cook breakfast for 145 homeless people–men…women…single…families…black…white….it did not matter. Vacationing With Your Ex

Could you do it? I was reading an interesting article about vacationing with your ex as a way to keep tight with your kids. Most famously, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have vacationed together successfully. I have done it–once, by accident. The one here in Maryland is supposedly the largest and attracts 15,000 people to take a chilly dip into the Chesapeake Bay in the middle of winter. The…

A Single Dad Is My Hero

This guy, Matt Logelin, has suffered incredible tragedy. In a matter of 27 hours he saw the birth of his daughter Madeline and the death of his wife Liz. He is a hero to me, because he has decided to tackle the issues head on and live (as sadly as it may be) for his daughter. Sure there was grief and profound sadness, but Matt has turned this into something good. He established the Liz Logelin Foundation to offer support to single widowed parents.   Matt tells his story on his

Single Parent Travel Donates To Lighthouse Shelter

As I mentioned in my newsletter, each year, we make a donation to a local charity around the holidays. This year is no different and Single Parent Travel will be supporting The Light House Shelter in Annapolis, MD.  The Light House Shelter is a program brought together by local churches of all denominations to offer assistance to the homeless. With the challenging economy, more people than ever need help and Single Parent Travel is reaching out to our readers. If you are going to purchase a book, CD or other…
