A Rocking Recap
Well, we all survived another Single Parent Travel weekend at the Rocking Horse Ranch. We had a little bit of “liquid sunshine” on Saturday but that did not dampen the spirits of the trail riders.
In the end, there were 42 families and a total of 96 people. The kids had a blast as did the adults. This time, I brought friends for my kids and it was a great decision as it allowed me to really get to talk to most everyone and not be worried about my kids fighting in a corner somewhere. The group of families was incredible. There were a surprising number of widows and widowers who really seemed to bond with each other and to be able to share some parenting stories amongst themselves. We even had a celebrity amongst us–Alissa Torres has written a book called American Widow and it is all about her journey as a single mom–her husband died in the WTC when she was 7.5 months pregnant. IT is a great read and you can get it at Amazon. You can click the ad above to get a preview, but this is a GREAT READ!
The Ranch has done a lot of renovating with more to come. The bunk beds make it easy for a family of four or five to live in comfort. The burger bar was a hit for my kids for lunch, but the biggest addition was the Wii Room. Four tricked out Wii stations with big plasma televisions and a few blacklights—kid heaven! And I was even tossed out for being too old! The nerve!
Here are some shots of the weekend and if you have your calendar, our Spring trip will be March 27-29 and I just spoke to the GM and they will hold the pricing for us!
