I. GLOBALBRENDA'S MESSAGE

Dear Readers,

We still have books left for sale at the special "moving price" of $5.00. These books are in perfect condition, and we are selling them off at this special price to avoid the high cost of moving from one storage facility to another. To order, click on http://www.singleparenttravel.net/book/ Spring has been a whirlwind of activities, starting with my late April Single Parent Tours weekend at Rocking Horse Ranch Resort that was immediately followed by my inspection trip to Brazil. Two weeks later I was flying off to Denver to visit my kids for the weekend. They were determined to get me back into shape in 3 days. On Saturday we biked the beautiful bike paths of Denver that run along the river, underneath the traffic. On Sunday we hiked an uphill trail (Huff, Huff. Puff. Puff), called Herman's Gulch that afforded a beautiful view of the snow capped peaks of the Rockies, once we reached the snowline. On Monday we walked in the sunny dry desert heat of Boulder, Colorado to visit my son at his new summer workplace on Boulder's campus of the Dept of Commerce, with a dramatic backdrop of the Flatirons. There are 3 things that Colorado has in abundance: 1) clean air 2) beautiful mountains and 3) lots of bicycles. They are everywhere!

Summer is upon us! I leave in early July for a one week driving tour of Nova Scotia - a terrific family vacation spot. I will write about that in a future newsletter. In the meantime, enjoy a happy healthy summer. Below are some fun suggestions to do with your kids during those lazy hazy days of summer.

Happy Trails!
GlobalBrenda

VI. SUBSCRIBERS SPEAK UP-REQUESTS, INQUIRIES, COMMENTS

Noraida writes:
Hi Brenda I hope you can help me! I'm going with my son to Puerta Vallarta next month for 5 days at a family resort. Here's the problem, my ex-husband is in prison. Have you run into anything like this? I'm not sure where to even begin. He would agree to sign the consent form but I don't think I can get it notarized in prison. Any information you may have will be most appreciated

GlobalBrenda responds:
You have other options. Go to my web site www.singleparenttravel.net Go to the FAQ section. Click on the documentation section. Read this section in its entirety. The answers to your questions will be there.

Michele writes:
I would love to be able to exchange residences with folks for travel purposes...you know, stay in a house near a beach in Fla., for a low fee...and then exchange my place in return. Is there a way to organize that through the site?
GB notes: Readers can respond directly to Michele at mwana@earthlink.net.

Franca from PA writes:
Hello! I just stumbled upon your website today. I am a single mother of 3, but only my youngest child would still be interested (and even excited!) at the prospect of traveling together, just the two of us. My daughter is 11, and so far, the only places we have traveled together alone have been Walt Disney World and Ocean City, NJ. Although she is a wonderful kid, and I am a fun and interesting mom, I think both of us would have liked to share part of our vacation with other children and adults. So that is why I wrote, to find some ideas for places to go where there are other single parents and children. I am seeking more "budget" type beach places.

GB responds:
Buy book! I wrote for people just like you. It is entertaining, informative, and will save you money in addition to adding to the pleasure and excitement of your single parent family trip. Beach resort suggestions are included in the book, as well as many other destinations. I strongly urge you to order now, while the $5 special is in place. Go to my Web site http://www.singleparenttravel.net and click on the picture of the book cover to order. Enjoy the read! Donald from Illinois writes:
Glen Ellyn father of two children (ages 12 & 14) looking for traveling companion for local and long distance trips and other family related activities/events. My e-mail address is donald.pellico@sba.gov (w) and phone # is 630-854-5067.

Note from GlobalBrenda:
My subscriber email was light this past month but I did receive 2 emails from travel organizations that may be of interest to readers:

- The Greater Philadelphia Dept of Tourism has an informative newsletter that often includes 5 or 6 suggestions of things to do. This month's list of suggestions was particularly good. For more information about travel to Philadelphia, visit http://www.gophila.com/or call the Independence Visitor Center, located in Independence National Historical Park, at (800) 537-7676.

- Another very good newsletter this month came from the Wisconsin Dept. of Tourism. You can contact them at wisconsintourism@travelwisconsin.com
