Hello, This trip sounds amazing. My son will be six by the time this trip takes place and his mother a little older. We have never left the country since he has been born and I don’t have a passport for him. Does he need one or is a letter/note from the non-custodial parent who lives in CA enough?
Thanks for your input,
Nush
Passports are not required since it is considered a “closed loop” cruise; but strongly recommended. Absent a Passport, you (adult) will need a government issued photo id and an original raised seal birth certificate issued by a government–not a hospital. There are some other options for the second form of ID if needed.
For your son, his original raised seal birth certificate will be required. While the permission letter is not required, again, it is strongly suggested to get it if at all possible and if not possible, there is an affadavit that you can sign stating that you were unable to get the signature.
