The main differences between the two will be the lack of characters (Sesame Street), the water park (which Sandy Bay did not have but Negril did) and the teen club with the XBoxes and all that. The dining options are not as extensive, but the food is equivalent or better.

There is wind surfing, sailing, beach volleyball and all the water sports. There are organized kids activities as well. The resort is a little more low key than a typical Beaches resort–it is a simple resort with a fantastic beach and some spectacular sights.

The island is very much under British influence. I doubt Renee woudl be bored. I suspect that we will have a large crowd this year with this price point as well and we already have a 13 yr old girl, 14 yr old girl and a 15 yr old boy signed up.
