Grand Pineapple Beach Antigua– August 16-23, 2009

PRICING UPDATE:

CALL 888-277-8543 OR EMAIL FOR CURRENT PRICING!

This year we are mixing it up a little bit and heading a bit further south in the Caribbean to the wonderful quiet island of Antigua and the Grand Pineapple Beach Resort.  This is a new brand for the Beaches family and promises one of the best beach vacations you have ever had.

The 1600′ beach is pristine white with clear turquoise water. Three restaurants, four bars, two pools, and all the water sports you have come to expect from an all inclusive resort from the Beaches family.

As with our other trips, a $200 fully refundable deposit will hold your space and pricing begins at $2415 for an adult and one child. Airfare and insurance are additional.

The major difference between Beaches and Grand Pineapple is lack of a water park and the extensive kid’s club. There are two pools and the Caribbean sea of course. As for activities, there is a fantastic game room (but alas no X Boxes or Sesame Place characters) and plenty of organized activities.  Again, it is all inclusive so you can leave your credit card in your wallet or purse.

A must see is The Outhouse (yes they have indoor plumbing) but this is a light snack shack/bar up on the hill overlooking the sea. It is run by Miss Mary. She was there when the original resort was built and this “shack” was built to feed the construction workers. If you are looking for a friendly smile and a challenging game of Scrabble while you enjoy some authentic Caribbean BBQ and a cold drink, you need to go to The Outhouse. You can also leave your mark with an original hand painted sign!

Some original signs left by guests at The Outhouse!

  1. How do you go about getting airfare once you pay for trip,do you have a travel agent that can do that?

  2. We can certainly quote the airfare for you or you can use an agent locally, go online, or use your points. Most people will check out the airfare price before committing to the trip, but in any case the deposit on the trip is fully refundable till the beginning of July.

If you want to call (888-277-8543) or email (john at singleparenttravel.net) I will be more than happy to get some pricing for you. I woudl need to know number of people and ages of kids and your home airport/airports

    Thanks
    John

  3. How long is thr ride from the airport to the resort? Do they have a play area for 5 year olds and activities for them during the day?

  4. The airport is about 15 miles from the resort and figure about a 30 to 40 minute transfer.

They do have a kids program and childcare/babysitting available. But it is not the kids club of the Beache’s resorts. There is no X Box Room or Sesame Place characters, etc. A bit more low key, but plenty of “counselored” activities!

  5. Thanks, can you let me know the pricing for flight? I can check myself as well. Just let me know the landing airport. I will be traveling with my son from Montreal. Direct flight?
    Thanks, Anna

  6. Hello, I am considering this trip as my first on with SPT. My son is 14 yrs old and I’m wondering if anyone can talk about past experiences. I want to make sure there’s enough to keep my son busy the whole week. I’ve read other post where a few teens his age are already signed up so that’s good.

    Thanks. Patty

  7. I have 2 boys, 12 and 13. Other kids in that age range going? Where are the rooms located – the standard ones on the map or garden view, etc? Are airport transfers included? does our ‘group’ have organized events or activities planned once there? thanks

  8. Hi Andrea….I have not done a rooming list but typically the bulk of the kids on these trips fall in the 7-14/15 range. So I am confident there will be others in the same age.

The standard rooms will not accomodate 3 people so the lowest level is the one up. Actually the pricing is consistent all the way up to the oceanfront rooms, I am with our RHR trip right now but I am thinking that the week for three in an oceanfront was in the $1500 range.

  9. I have 2 children, what would be the cost for 3 total?

  10. What about bringing a grandparent as well? Does anyone with SPT ever do that?

    • Hi Dyan–
Yes we do have grandparents on occasion. It is not the norm, so there likely will not be too many grandparents with our groups, but they are certainly welcome! But, please check with us on the pricing .

  11. Hi John,

Just wondering what the current pricing is (1 child) ?

  12. testing…testing…is this thing on??

Just kidding…this is my first post to the new site and it’s probably not even officially up yet.

Single dad here with a 13 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. This will be our third Caribbean trip with SPT and on every trip we meet lots of great and interesting people and made some lasting friendships. It is such a great feeling to be at a big resort and see people you know as you’re passing by, or just sidling up to someone you know and start chatting.

What activities are people looking forward to? As for myself, looking to R E L A X. Hopefully there will be a full list of daily activities to punctuate the rela-zzz-ing part. Will definitely go snorkeling some and try to get some tennis in…

My son loves scuba diving and got certified last year in Jamaica but it appears that the Grand Pineapple doesn’t offer it. He will be sorely disappointed if he doesn’t get to dive, so I am looking for other options for him to get out and dive. I am not a diver (prefer to stay on top of the water…thank you!) so I am looking for someone whom he can “tag along with” for perhaps an off-resort excursion. Any other divers out there?

My daughter loves staying active with random stuff, playing in the sand and water, and just hanging out at the kids’ bar with a virgin Strawberry Daiquiri in-hand.

Has anyone been to the resort, or Antigua for that matter and can share some experiences?

    Eric

  13. Exactly 5 weeks from today, at this time, we will be sitting at the airport awaiting our red-eye from California to Antigua, via Jersey. This will be our third trip to the Caribbean, and our second with SPT. I’m a mom with one almost 13 year old boy who prefers floating in the pool and hanging out to sports. We are arriving on Friday, and my plan is to get to the resort and sit down. Then a week later I will get up again and go home. Well, I might get up to eat and drink. Maybe hop in the pool. But that’s about it.
